The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for qualified tradespeople who intend to work in Canada indefinitely after accepting a job offer.
In accordance with this visa category, only 3000 claims are approved annually, with Category A accepting no more than 100 claims per year for a given occupation and Category B has no such restriction.

- CLB 5: Hearing and speaking abilities
- CLB 4: Reading and writing proficiency.
- To be eligible for this position, you must have two years of full-time professional experience in the specified occupation within the last five years.
- Should carry out all duties outlined in the National Occupational Classification for the designated employment (NOC).
- Possess either a state- or territory-issued certificate of competence in that specific trade or a full-time job opportunity for at least one year.
